Before you there was something else Something I locked so far beneath my ribs that even I forgot its name It isnt evil It isnt cruel It’s just… hungry. It waits in the dark like a creature with bloodied claws scraping at the inside of my skin, begging to breathe. Every scar every disappointment every person who left fed it another reason to stay hidden. So I buried it deeper and smiled harder. But some nights I can feel it moving. Not because it wants to destroy the world, but because it wants what ive spent my whole life pretending I don’t need. A place where it can finally rest. To be loved without earning it.
To be wanted without asking.
To be needed without feeling guilty.
To be someone’s first thought instead of their last option. To be yearned for so completely that it no longer has to fight to exist.
People think everyone’s darkest side is made of rage. Mine is made of longing.
Years of swallowing words.
Years of convincing myself I was too much or not enough Years of standing outside the warmth watching everyone else find home while something inside me clawed and clawed desperate to know what it felt like. The monster was never trying to escape so it could hurt someone. It was trying to find somewhere safe enough to stop hiding. Maybe that’s what darkness really is. Not a beast that wants to consume the world…
Just a forgotten part of yourself that’s been waiting for years for someone gentle enough to open the cage without being afraid.
