The trees know my name and they follow me home
Their branches like fingers that scrape at my bones
I run through the black but the black seems to grow
There is nowhere to hide when my mind seems to know
The roots grab my ankles and pull at my feet
The shadows keep whispering that I should concede
My lungs fill with darkness my chest fills with dread
And terrible thoughts make a home in my head
I scream without sound as the forest draws near
Every tree wears the face of another old fear
I run until blood seems to burn through my veins
But wherever I turn I am followed by pain
The moon disappears and the stars seem to die
I stare through the branches and silently cry
My mind builds a coffin from everything said
Then begs me to climb in and silence my head
But somewhere beneath all the rot and the rain
A heartbeat still fights through the weight of the pain
I cannot see daylight or swear it is near
I only know somehow I am still fucking here
