The birds still sing like nothing died
While something rots away inside
They cross the sky so wild so free
While doubt keeps sinking teeth in me
I envy how they trust the air
To hold their wings and keep them there
I trusted once with open hands
Now every promise feels like sand
I loved without a place to hide
Let hope come crawling back inside
I chose a road I thought was true
And built my fucking world on you
But lies leave fingerprints behind
They stain the heart infect the mind
And even truth begins to sound
Like something waiting to break down
Now every silence has a name
Every difference feeds the flame
Every little change I see
Becomes another threat to me
I hate the person doubt creates
The one who questions loves and waits
For something awful to appear
Because trusting you now tastes like fear
And still I love
That’s what destroys
The quiet underneath the noise
Because walking out would tear me through
But staying means believing you
So I watch the birds escape the night
Tiny ghosts against dying light
No past demanding they return
No trust to break no lies to learn
Maybe freedom isn’t flight
Maybe it’s sleeping through the night
Without wondering what you’ll find
When love leaves certainty behind.
