The Life We Had

I miss the life we used to know, The way our love would simply flow. No need for words, no need to try, You read my heart with just your eyes.

I miss the laughter, miss the peace, The way your presence brought release. How being us was all we’d need, A love so natural, wild and free.

We understood without a sound, In you, a home was what I’d found. The little things, the days we’d share, The comfort of just knowing you’re there.

And now I sit with memories past, Of something I believed would last. I miss the future we once drew, The simple life of me and you.

It’s not just you I ache to see, It’s who I was when you loved me. The ease, the warmth, the way we knew, That I was me and you were you.

And if I could, for just one night, I’d hold that world beneath the light. Before the hurt, before the tears, Before we lost what felt like years.

For all the things that hurt me through, There’s still a part that longs for you. Not just your touch or what we had, But how the ordinary never felt so sad.
